Meet the Teacher

For over 8 years, Alethea has taught children and adults of all ages, at levels ranging from beginning to early advanced. While she performs classical and sacred music, she also enjoys teaching. Previously, she has taught through Susquehanna University's Music Preparatory Program in PA as well as Allegro Music School in MA. Currently residing in Boston, she teaches at Lexington Music School and has a private piano studio.

"Music is an integral part of life.  It has always been a big part of mine, and my desire is to share this passion with others in whatever capacities I am able to.  Music is more than just notes on a page; it is an aural artwork.  Musicians have a palette of colors that, when blended just right, creates a masterpiece. Therefore, I stress the importance of both good technique as well as musicianship from the start, so as to capture the beauty and colors of a musical piece.

My students, in both private and music school settings, learn to be focused and disciplined at the piano, while having the freedom to create beautiful music in a fun environment. I encourage my students to reach their potential by setting goals with them. Because I believe being a good musician requires a well-rounded education, I also teach my students music theory, history and aural skills in addition to good technique while at the piano. I believe that my job as an instructor is to teach music as well as important key life skills, such as time management, patience and discipline."
